User Guide

General info

USERS… roles

Administrator role (can add new pages/news articles):

Have access to all settings and tabs in left sidebar menu. I have used a plugin called ‘Minimal Admin’ to hide unneccessary stuff. If you want to see everything then deactivate this plugin – however there should be no need to.Only users with ‘Administrator’ role are able to add new pages & posts.

Editor role (edit content of existing pages/news articles but cannot add pages/news article):

Only see the ‘Page’ & ‘Post’ menu on left sidebar menu in Admin. Ignore any other tabs on the left menu. ‘Editors’ can add content to exsisting pages but nothing else (ie they have no access to plugin settings, Users, Appearance tabs etc) and cannot add new pages.

Installed plugins info:

PageMash

Top left menu > Pages > pageMash

You can reorder the pages here if necessary so that they appear in the dropdown menu in the desired order. Just drag & drop, then > ‘Update’ (bottom right).

Don’t change the order of the ‘Top Level’ menu items (ie School to School Support, Enquiries, Research & Professional Development etc). The pagemash plugin has been installed so that you can reorder the pages that are children of the top level pages (ie pages that appear in the dropdown menu).

Editing pages

All content fields on each individual edit page will be labelled.

On the left sidebar menu hover/click on ‘Posts’ or ‘Pages’ to create a new post or page. Posts are published in the ‘News‘ section. ‘Pages‘ refers to any page that’s not a blog (news) post. So ‘Events’, ‘Weddings’ etc are pages.

All Pages/Posts

There are two fields at the bottom of every page/post ‘Title’ and ‘Description’. Fill these out with you SEO Meta ‘Titles’ & ‘Descriptions’. These fields are optional – if you don’t fill them out then the Meta ‘Title’ & ‘Description’ will be created automatically by the software.

Publish / Update buton

Blue button on the right side of the page. Click to save any changes/updates or to publish a post/page. If you forget you’ll lose any changes you may have made.
