The Posh Pasty Company is incredibly proud of our Cornish suppliers. We promote local & sustainable produce and enjoy baking with quality artisan ingredients. Every part of our pasty is filled with the best that Cornwall has to offer and it has taken years to find the right people – farmers, fishermen and food enthusiasts who are passionate about creating high quality Cornish produce. We believe that the time and effort visiting our suppliers has been worth every minute and that the cooking time of our pasties is merely the culmination of their work. This is why here at the Posh Pasty Company we offer a proper Taste of Cornwall Life.
Based just a few miles away in Lostwithiel, Trewithen supplies all the Cornish butter that makes our golden pastry so special. We use their natural yogurt to marinade our lamb.
Giel Spierlings produces a range of Cornish Gouda made on his family’s small dairy farm and is also a kayak marathon champion. James and Giel often conduct business on the River Fowey.
In order to meet demand we have upscaled our production to an award-winning local bakery near Newquay. All our pasties are carefully handmade using traditional methods to our specific recipes by Crantock bakery, who have many years worth of crimping and pasty making expertise.
Both James and his business partner Tom love a good pint of Tribute. So, it made sense to pay a trip to their local brewery and find a beer that worked with their special steak pasty. 1913 is a dark stout full of history and great depth of flavour – fair to say, it doesn’t always make it into the pasty.
Finding local potatoes available all year round was a piece of luck. Chris Dustow contacted us from his farm near Lostwithiel and we now solely use his Cornish spuds in our pasties.
Good cider isn’t hard to find in the South West but superb cider is slightly harder to locate. Fortunately just down the road is an established orchard that produces a range of incredibly drinkable ciders and freshly pressed apple juice.
Local condiments company Boddingtons are based just down the road near Mevagissey, and they produce our Posh range of exclusive preserves, chutneys and relishes to accompany our pasties. We have worked with Phil and his wife Louise to replicate our family recipes on a larger scale.
James met Ivan and Carolyn from Berrio Mill during the filming of ‘Hungry Sailors’ for ITV. James’ particular favourite in their range is the fiery ‘Beast of Bodmin’ chilli mustard. They now supply the perfect mustard for our pasties.
Gavin Roberts runs the artisan Kernow Sausage Co and supplies a specially designed ‘Breakfast Sausage’ for our Cornish Brunch Pasty. They offer a wide range of gourmet bangers that you’ll see in more products in the future.
In order to meet growing demand we now also work with good family friends and local award-winning butchers Charlie Harris. They offer a great professional butchery service and supply a range of local meats to our exact requirements. Based out of their shop in Tywardreath the team are always happy to help.
