The winning teamwork of Cornwall’s Posh Pasty Co and Crantock Bakery has produced a new pasty to celebrate the World Cup.
The World Cup Brazilian has been created by Posh Pasty owner and TV Chef James Strawbridge at his farm near Fowey and crafted at Crantock Bakery. It features the finest Cornish ingredients whilst reflecting the flavours of Brazil – the World Cup’s host nation.
The star of the pasty is pork from the award-winning Primrose herd – traditional breed, outdoor-reared pigs nurtured by the Lugg family at their farm near Redruth. The pork is cooked in St Austell Brewery’s Clouded Yellow wheat beer with turtle beans, sweet potato and the perfect match of Brazilian spices. It also comes with its own pot of sweet pepper dipping sauce.
James is passionate about developing his range of gourmet flavours to retain a rustic farmhouse quality but still offer a proper taste of Cornwall.
He said: “We’re really pleased with this limited edition pasty – it’s a perfect example of tradition with a twist.”
Crantock Bakery Managing Director, Matthew Hurry, said: “The goal was to reflect the public mood and create something exotic and exciting using local ingredients. We think this pasty is a real winner!”
