Last Friday marked a monumental day for team Posh Pasty Co, as we drove to London for the launch of our gourmet pasty range in the world’s best department store… Selfridges.
The Posh Pasty Co range has been launched at Selfridges Food Hall as part of the store’s Meet the Makers promotion which celebrates the very best contemporary talent of the food world.
Selfridges food buyer Adrian Boswell first approached Posh Pasty Co’s James Strawbridge several months ago, and after sampling them Mr Boswell said: “I was impressed with his innovative range of products which all came with their own dip. We need to make sure Selfridges has a well stocked deli counter. Everyone loves a pasty.”
It was exhilarating getting the nod from Selfridges, but it wasn’t until we all actually
arrived at the store last week and walked through the phenomenal food hall that the reality of what it meant to be an official supplier of Selfridges truly hit home. The food hall is like walking through Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory crossed with the greatest farmer’s market in the world – it’s a mind-blowing collection of the best food products imaginable. And to see our pasties amongst the mouth-watering glitterati of the food world was really exciting. In short, we felt like we’d made it!
As a new supplier of Selfridges we are required to be in the store for several sampling days. We set up our sample stand in front of our pasties in the deli counter, and in no time people were flocking to taste our ‘Posh’ produce. Of course, this success story is not just down to us. In fact we wouldn’t have been there had it not been for our amazing Cornish suppliers and skilled bakery.
We will be returning to the store for regular sampling sessions this summer and hope that more people across London and the South East get to enjoy a
proper taste of Cornwall.
